child support sent the following: Question

Can anybody tell me how to go about stopping child support, what the procedure is legally to have it stopped. Now I don't want it stopped just because I want too so please don't anyone start ripping me a new one, but because the child will be of age and out of school, it will stop according to my divorce papers, but from what i've been told we have to go through the dyer county court house and this sounds like we are dealing with a bunch of morons. thanks!

Paul S. Peevyhouse sent the following: Reply

All you have to do is to contact the Tennessee Child Support office in Nashville tn. Their address is P.O.Box 305200, Nashville Tn. I would recommend getting a copy of that child's birth certificate and high school diploma and send it to Nashville. But if you don't, not too important to do so. Also,,,The local Child Support services here in Dyersburg (not at the courthouse) should be able to help you. I think they have an office on Upper Finley Road. Myself,,,I have to deal with the ones in Gibson County, which is Maximus Child Support Services. Sometimes though, they don't get into a big hurry. Do as I recommended first,,,,contact the people in Nashville.

I guess what I'm saying is, I don't think a Dr. should "experiment" with someone on prozac. Prozac is a powerful drug that can cause some people to lose control of their actions. I'm no medical dr. but things I've seen on the news and working with people that have been on prozac, I keep my distance but that's my opinion. Everyone handles different kinds of drugs different and you may be perfectly fine but I think if the Dr. is any kind of Dr. he would make sure that you would be able to handle being on that drug.

I just read the lottery fact sheet. Looked more like an anti-lottery fact sheet to me. I would prefer a lottery over a new income tax. I looked and looked but could not find a state income fact sheet anywhere. The owners of ecsis are using their home page to make political statements. I'm sure they are good people but I find this offensive!

------------------ Sat Feb 23 12:06:23 2002 --------------------------

Dummiecrat sent the following: Question

Might as well have a lotery here in Tennessee, cause alot of the money being spent in surrounding states on lotteries. That's the money that needs to be kept here! Tennesseans are supporting other states when they ought to be supporting their own home state. Offensive?? People are going to keep on being offensive with everything said, that the "Freedom of Speech" / "Freedom of the Press" isn't going to be anymore. I don't like alot of things I see, hear and do, but no one sees me crying about it, Cause this is America!! We are SUPPOSE to be able to read, see, speak and hear whatever we please! Alot of our freedom to speak and read are being halted just because of someone that just can't ignore what they don't want to hear or read. So I know I will offend someone with this, but it is supposed to be my freedom to do so, ain't that right "Crybaby?"

------------------ Sat Feb 23 19:45:03 2002 --------------------------

Wavering Republican sent the following: Comment

Wait a minute Dummiecrat, I'm glad we agree on the lottery but what is offensive is that 1 side of the story is presented as "The Facts". This is no different than left wing media bias. 1 side of the story. The truth is defined for us and presented to us as fact. The right wing has a bias as well. If they want to present political opinions thats fine an dandy. Label the link as "Our opinions" and NOT "The Facts". If I am a cry baby well then Boo Hoo.

I agree that the ecsis lottery fact sheet is one sided. I am a student at UTM and Monday I wrote an argumentative paper for Comp II. We researched our topic and we were REQUIRED to present the opposing viewpoint. If you ever want to get an argument published, it MUST address the opposing view. Unless, of course, you own a server or operate a web page. Then you can present all of a one sided opinion you want. But a paper like that won't get a passing grade in college English. If you never hear both sides of an issue, then you never learn anything! I'm sure some people will be offended by what I've said, but it's my right to do so, ISN'T it?

------------------ Tue Feb 26 20:33:26 2002 --------------------------

Look at what is to the right of the "dot." On ECSIS, it is NET. That doesn't mean government or organization, but a business operation. A business to which we subscribe. We BUY the service. ECSIS.NET does not have to present both sides of any argument. They are not a newspaper or broadcast station and may print what they want. We buy the service. We don't get it free and they are not licensed in the public's best interest (like a radio or tv station) so they can post any opinion they want. It's their business. If you do not agree with their personal statements, you can find another service. If they don't like the lottery, that's their opinion and they have shared it with us. If you don't respect their opinion, go somewhere else. This is their message board and their site and it includes their opinions. This too is protected by the Constitution. ECSIS.NET is a wonderful service staffed by caring thoughtful people. They can print what they want--they don't have to be objective. That is the job of the Media. Now relax and enjoy one of the finest ISP's in the country.

------------------ Tue Feb 26 21:03:15 2002 --------------------------

Student sent the following: Comment

You are so obvious. A person can come here, read previous posts and figure out exactly who you are. Maybe you should take your own advice. If you don't like what's posted on this board (a PUBLIC board) you should go somewhere else (but you are going somewhere else, aren't you?). If ECS doesn't want any comment on what they do then they should remove this board, which I remind you again is freely open to the public. I never said that ECS didn't have a right to their opinion--you said I said that. I simply made the observation that a private web server or web page is the only place you could get away with that, which you then incorporated into your own post as if it were YOUR idea. Plagiasm will not get you a passing grade in college either. Your sitting there telling me that I don't have the right to post an opinion, then almost in the same sentence tell me that the opinion of ECS is protected by the constitution. Excuse me, but everyone's right to speak is protected you idiot.

I hope you read your books better than you read the postings here college boy. The free speech is here on this message board. The views of the ISP are on the home page. Found out the reason for the screw up on child support. When the state was doing the child support they changed and it went to the county. They lost a whole year of showing payments and if you can get the ex-better half to sign a paper saying you are not behind then they will clear it up for you.

It is very important that you selected the EXACT scanner you have during the software installation, as this is when the scanner driver is installed. The driver for each scanner is different, even if the name of the scanner is similar, i.e. the "Strobe", the "Strobe Serial", and the"Strobe Pro". Selecting one that is not a match for the scanner you have, will install the wrong driver and the scanner will not work. It is also for this reason, that you only download an updated driver that is an exact match for the scanner you have. WAKE UP TENNESSEE!!!! I urge everyone who favors the 4.5% State Income Tax to jump in the river and drown before you sell the rest of us out. This "Tax plan" is the worst case of extortion I have ever seen. We are being told, in legalese, that if we don't pressure our local reps to suport Naifeh's income tax that he and the rest of his greasy-palmed associates will trash the public school system. Now, for those of you who own your own business (and there sure are a lot of business owners for such a small town as Dyersburg), imagine this scenario: A Cop walks into your place of business and says that you're located in a "risky" area, and there's a danger that vandals and hoodlums may break into your place of business after hours and steal your office equipment or petty cash box or do any number of other unspeakably upsetting crimes (trash the place, etc etc) and that would cost your business a lot of money if it happened, but for a fee paid directly to the cop, you can buy a little extra protection. That's extortion - pay this fee (tax) or something bad will happen to your home/business/children/wife/husband/mother/father you name it. This is Organized Crime in the guise of Government, and if you people had any sense you would know that and would DEMAND the IMMEDIATE resignation of ALL State Legislators who support a State Income Tax.

Your elected officials are threatening your public schools and if you want to be a stupid little sheep and bow down to them and fall for their threats, then you are worthless as a human being and do not have the Community's best interests in mind. Stand up and demand a full accounting of every dollar the State spent during the last fiscal year, and go over it with a fine-toothed comb. There are millions of dollars being wasted in "pet projects" sponsored by the people you elected into office, and these pet projects are what need to be cut out, not Education and Healthcare. The American Revolution was started on one crucial precept - no taxation without representation. If you think for one minute that this is going to a public vote, you need to lay off the drugs, because no one in their right mind would vote in favor of an income tax. Only politicians favor taxes because they have an opportunity to get funding for their pet projects that exclude 90% of the working citizens of the districts they allegedly represent. We, the citizens of Dyer County and all of Tennessee NEED to stand up and give the Senate and House of TN this ultimatum: (continued...)

Do you honestly WANT to continually turn out teeming hordes of factory laborers? Do you want your children to have a life that is WORSE than your own? Do you want them to know less than you did at their age? Can you honestly be proud to have a low-grade moron who cannot make change, who has no desire to achieve, and who is easily led for a child, instead of a child that MAKES INFORMED DECISIONS about their own life and has and exhibits the potential to be a leader? Tommy sent the following: Question

Why can't a person see any of the home pages that are on ECSIS's site? I use to like to see them (sissi's pages)and now I can't get them to come up at all. What is the deal now? Is ECSIS mad and don't want any outsiders visiting the homepages of thier users? Thanks Tommy

I'm not an ecs subscriber and they work just fine for me. Maybe the problem is with your internet service.

I don't ever have a problem with the ecs webpages coming up, although the ones I do see could use a little work. As far as the state tax goes, what's the deal with smokes going up? aren't they high enough already??? ... And for the woman with the deceased husbands kids.... Nobody is perfect, everyone is a pain in my A$$ (sometimes).... Thanx ecs for the chalkboard...... :)~roll tide~

Everyone need to read the Letter To The Editor in the State Gazette Thursday 7-18-02. The guy makes some very interesting points about things.

Everyone needs to take a trip to the intersection of Jenkinsville-Jamestown and Pennell Lane. It was a poor attempt on the part of our road commissioner at disguising the work as "road work" when it really just amounts to landscaping for the individual building the new home. We certainly need some new people in these county positions. Oh Well - maybe next time!!!

We have one of the worst Wal-Marts in the chain. The people really don't care about themselves and they certainly don't give a hoot about their customers. The Wal-Mart was now (since the death of Mr. Sam Walton) is "They'll have to buy from us, we put everybody else out of business!" I don't think Mr. Sam meant for it to be that way. Target would be good. A real hardware store would be nice too.

Anyone know of any haunted places around? My friend and I are wanting to look into some of these legends and see what we can find out. We need a brief description of what happened there (Why it's haunted) also we need directions from halls.. or atleast an adress. We would like to make sure that we are welcome there.. so abandoned places would be best. In other words.. no occupied houses or posted land please.. I'll be glad to exchange any info you want on other places around

There's an old dormitory building on the campus of UTM that is supposedly haunted. No one lives in it and there is a room with all kinds of stuff like "this is hell" scratched into the walls (I've been in it). The rumor is that someone committed suicide in that room. I doubt that it's true. Urban legend, ya know? You'd probably never be allowed in there unless they didn't know. I sneaked into it along with some other students, one of whom took pictures of it.

...and there are all kinds of stories about it like people saying they've heard telephones ringing in it and lights going on and off in it. The story about the lights was told to me by a guy who works for campus maintenance. He's had to go in and turn them off. But, theres no way to know if any of it's true. It makes for good stories so people keep telling them.

I used to have a haunted fridge. Every time I would open it the darned light would be on! I didn't turn it on, but every time it would be on. It sent chills up my spine. (That and the popsicle) I finally stopped the fridge light. I found a wire running to the back and unplugged it. The haunted light never came on again! It was just as well because two days later everything spoiled in my fridge. Believe it or not!
