If you have Hot Date, you've already noticed that your Sim kids can wear the swimsuits and pjs that came with "sets" or what you assigned them, but the adults have gone back to Maxis defaults. The way that our skins are now makes it better in a way because you can use the outfits for more than one Sim without having to especially code it for individual outfits. Also you can enjoy seeing your Sims wearing something different than what everyone else in the house is wearing! You can still use those skins in your game to be able to enjoy the variety, however it requires renaming them and moving them, which isn't too complicated to: C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\ExpansionPack3\SkinsBuy Also, if you look inside that folder, you'll see "Original.bmp" for all body sizes and colors F..formals, S..swimsuits and L..pajamas. Each of those comes in 3 body colors and 3 body frame sizes. You can find which Pajama, formal and swimsuit you would like your Sims who haven't bought new stuff downtown to wear normally instead of the Maxis defaults. Then just rename them to match the Maxis original.bmp name and let it overwrite whats there. Read on ... you'll figure out what I mean! ***I was reading about this elsewhere and it was warned to NOT just rename the files, so proceed knowing that this works fine in my game...but a skinner with a LOT more experience that me said don't just rename like I did. ~~~~~ The skins that you purchase in the stores downtown are named differently. F is for FORMAL WEAR L is for LINGERE' S is for SWIM WEAR Each of those categories has different styles of clothing. For instance, for women you have strapless formals and spegetti strap formals, pjs in 2-piece, chemise' and etc. Each body style is represented as Ma or Fa, fit, fat and skn and lgt, med, drk. This means Male Adult, Female Adult, Fit body, Skinny body, Fat body, light, medium or dark skin. Click on a .bmp and take a look at it. If your Explorer doesn't show images in the window, bring up your paint program and take a look. Note that your pajamas for women come in 2-piece, chemise and other styles. The same for men, 2-piece, bikini and etc. Swimsuits come in different styles as well...2-piece or 1-piece for women, bikini or boxer type for men, etc. Find which style of pajama or swimsuit you are wanting to place into the folder for your Sims to purchase downtown and simply rename them to the appropriate file name. Looking at the files in the SkinsBuy folder note that S402MAFitmed is a bikini style swim suit for a man with fit body and medium skin. S100MaFitmed is a boxer type swimsuit for a male, fit body and medium skin. S402FAFitlgt is a female 2-piece for fit body and light skin. S401FAFitmed is a 1-piece swimsuit for a fit female with medium skin. L100FaFitmed is a 2-piece pajama for a female fit body in medium skin. And so forth... ~~~~~ Lets try an experiment. Find a pajama that you would like to have your Sims wear. For this experiment find a 2-piece pajama for either male or female. Place it into a temp folder on your desktop and lets look inside the C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\ExpansionPack3\SkinsBuy folder. The 2-piece pajama for a male or female is L100. Now rename that 2-piece pajama with the extension L100. It should now be named L100MaFitlgt_whatevernameis.bmp for a Male Fit Light. Make sure whatever you rename it to, that you have the Ma for male or Fa for female, Fit Fat or Skn according to body size, and Lgt Med or Drk according to skin color. Pajamas shouldn't alreay have Fit, Fat or Skn but some do. Mostly they are for one-size-fits-all. Just make sure that when you rename your current file that you do have one of those in it because it DOES matter now! Drag your newly renamed file into your C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\ExpansionPack3\SkinsBuy folder. Bring up your game and take a Sim downtown. Be sure you select a Sim that will fit the new pajama you just created! Go to the main mall and buy Pjs and you'll see in the selection list that new set you just put in there. If you don't see it, you made an error in the renaming! When your Sim gets home get them to the dresser and "change into PJs". NOTE: You must have FaSknLgt, MaFatDrk, etcetera for it to work correctly! This simply means what sex, what body size, sex, and body color your selected skins will fit! This will work for swim wear and formal wear too. Just be sure to look at the files in the folder to be sure you select something that resembles the file type you are wanting to use! It doesn't have to look EXACTLY like it, just as similar as you can get. What I mean is don't rename a bikini type swimsuit to a boxer type swimsuit number etc. Looking at the files in the SkinsBuy folder will give you an idea of what to rename your files to. Don't be afraid to try it! If you make an error and it crashes your game it won't HURT anything! Just figure out how you named it wrong and correct it or simply remove the file you just stuck in there. ~~~~~~ If you desire to place this text elsewhere, such as on your web site, in message board files, etc., thats fine, just please don't remove the bottom text.
